Held annually at Shoal Point, always on a Sunday, when high tide is around 11am. – 12 noon, ( not in the stinger season ) preferred tide 4.5-5.2 m.
Attendees can use their fishing gear, or they can use our gear, over the past 10 years attendance numbers have averaged 250 per event we usually have about 15 MRFA volunteer helpers, and members of the Mackay Apex Club assist with cooking the 350 plus sausages which are given away on the day free of charge to attendees.
There are a number of prizes drawn at random given to children, in 2013, those prizes included rod/reel combo’s , cast nets, and gift vouchers.
The event is fully funded by MRFA inc. and committee members believe it is the best $500 – $600 we spend each year. Many families have attended the event for more than six times, the feedback we get from hosting this event is unreal.
Our special guests for this event include Turtle Watch, The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority ( Mackay ) who set up a static display
